Children of the Wind
Music has always been one of the best channels to talk about things that cannot be talked about…
It is the great silent prayer that man has used since the most remote antiquity to speak with his ancestors, with the bush, fire, wind, rain and their allies in the invisible world, to speak without words beyond time…
Music has always been a powerful medicine for native peoples and not just entertainment. Music was only played to “stop time”, the exclusive prerogative of the musician/priest in births, deaths, celebrations, dances and rituals.
For Native Americans, the wind is the medium, the channel used by our earth ancestors, the connection to our physical world.
Riding the wind, they visit us, thus being able to look at us and inspire us with experiences and emotions that are beyond time and space – just like music.
All – animals, trees and humans – share the same air.
Human voices and flutes use the wind to travel and reach us.
Like everything on Mother Earth, the wind is alive and communicating.
On the wind travel knowledge, emotions, love, prayers, sounds and things that the mind cannot understand. Thousands of years ago our ancestors smiled, loved, danced, beat drums and sang. Without electricity, oil, telephone, fax or computer, man communicated and learned, because he LISTEN!!!
Being silent, we can hear again these drums, this fire, the voice of the wind and the songs it carries.
Today, man, music and nature are polluted and intoxicated. An incredible (and unknown) amount of information and noise intoxicates man: millions of cars, appliances on, stress and tension contaminate the beautiful Mother Earth.
Melancholy, lost loves, anger, aggression and the mechanical instruments “played” by computer intoxicate the music. All this occupies the space of silence, brotherhood, joy and calm that man has known in the past, in the natural world. How can man today turn off all this noise, this haste and regain silence and beauty?
Through sound, peace and the feeling of brotherhood with the whole. The whole universe, the trees, rivers, clouds, the brightness of the eyes, the smile, the wind on the face, the loving touch…
All this is music. A silent music, which has no owner or score – and it creates itself all the time.
– WE ARE THE INSTRUMENT!!! –
That is why today music is far from nature, often so cold, melancholy, violent, full of noise and dissatisfaction, that it seems difficult to imagine the musician of today as the shaman he was in the past, where he opened doors to other realities, parallel worlds, subtle emotions, harmony and connection with the Earth.
That same natural and ancestral music, as a powerful ally of peace and brotherhood, is returning. Its healing power is immense and man is feeling it again.
The sound that each of us creates is quickly mirrored around the world, and those who work at the same vibratory frequency respond to us. The native elders who walked in balance in this land did not die by the white invader.
They stayed around like spirits, inspiring us and showing us new ways to love, serve, honor life again, and give thanks for the sacred fact that we are here. The elders of the galactic tribe are filled with love and pride for feeling that not everything on Earth today is as sad and violent as many would have us believe.
Having reached the limit of tolerance of mother Earth, all the tribes are uniting and, lighting again the sacred pipe of peace, a great fire where all the hatreds, racism, limits, fears and prejudices that led us to this situation will burn, able to live in peace again.
May the lit sacred fire not cling, may the purity of water and air benefit all beings, may the tribe of brothers in peace have the strength to add joy, respect and light to this beautiful blue planet. May our sound have the strength of thunder, love of the earth and the purity of a child and the firmness and generosity of a sister tree.
